A sneak peek. . .

Here's a little something I made for my booth and I'm soo excited about the way it turned out!

It was just a plain ol' brown wooden frame that I bought from Habitat for $1.

I can't remember where I initially saw this idea of using an old frame and turning it into a memo board. I wanna say it was Ballard, maybe?

Anyhow, I broke out the craft paint, hot glue, clothespins and a bit of twine and this is what I got!

(goodness, my back door needs to painted and cleaned!)

First, I painted it blue but the blue was a bit bolder than I wanted so I took an antique white and glazed over it and that helped to tone down the color a bit and it settled nicely into the grooves.

Then, I just measured my twine and cut 5 pieces and hot glued it to the back of my frame. I also, took a piece of twine and outlined the back where I glued the other pieces. More or less, to just make it look more neat in the back.

Found a couple of old pictures and cards and just used some mini clothespins to hang them with!

I love it and I kinda want to keep it for myself. : )

It was super easy and fun and I can't wait to make more of them!

I'm linking this to The Shabby Nest's Frugal Friday Linky Party.

The 411. . .

Hey, y'all! : )

Just wanted to touch base with the few of you, that read my blog.

Firstly, as of today I have lost 28.6 lbs!! YAY me!!

I still have more I want to lose, but seriously, I already feel like a new person.

I've gone down 2 dress sizes and some of my shoes have even gotten too big!

How weird is that?!

I feel more focused, more patient, more determined and just more alive than I've felt in a long, long time.

I'm not just going through the motions, anymore.

Don't get me wrong, I still have bad days but I recover from them so much more quickly than before.

Life is good. : )

My booth at the antique/collectible store opens next Thursday and I'm still excited but I am getting more nervous by the day. I don't know why, I just hope people like my stuff, I guess! : )

I'm doing this more as a hobby than anything, it's just something I truly enjoy.

It's actually stress relieving to me.
It's like I don't have a care in the world, when I am working on something.

I guess you could call it, "creative therapy"? : )

We are starting off small and just have random things from around our home and few things I've made or refinished, thus far.

I do have a few more projects waiting in the wings, though.

Currently, I am redoing an end table and have the paint in my hair today to prove it! LOL

I really want to make my booth something fun and something that people will remember (in a good way, of course).

I did move some stuff in last weekend and met my "neighboring" booths, they are both women and both of them are new at this as well, and seem to have the same mix of emotions that I do.

It's been fun to see the whole store coming together.

One of the old vendors gave me some information about a few of the upcoming auctions and I've never been to one so, I am excited about the prospect of that.

Have you ever been to auction? If so, how did you like it?
Any advice for an auction newbie?

I'm really excited to see what this adventure holds for us, and am so glad we decided to take this chance.

If you made it this far, bless you.

We've been some busy bees and thank you for taking the time to keep up with us and by the looks of my neglected Google reader, y'all have been busy too!

Hope you have a wonderful Wednesday!

Happy Friday!!

Soo very, very excited!

I went into town on Saturday and hit up all my fave junk stores, like I usually do.

Well, one store in particular was having a BIG sale, I found a few things I couldn't live without and when I went to pay, I noticed their sign stating that they were moving on April 1st. I started talking to the clerk, she was telling me about the big move, etc. and she stated that they had vendor space available in the new store.

My ears perked right up! : )

So, she gave me a phone number to call to inquire more about it, I called and long story short, I officially have a booth!!

It's a teeny, tiny booth but it's mine and I am so excited and scared and did I say, excited?!? : )

I have quite a few ideas, I'm tossing around and can't wait to get my booth all set up!

I plan on stocking it with my crafts, some furniture we've refinished and some random odds and ends from around here.

The owner of the store gave me some great direction and I am excited to see how this pans out! Plus, everyone was super nice!

Can't wait to see what this adventure unfolds! : )

A little before and after. . .

Our little town is filled to the brim with neat little antique stores.
So, Jeff and I have made it a bit of ritual to venture out to them on Saturday mornings.
It's been a lot of fun and we've found some really neat things, plus, it's something that he and I like to actually do together.

I know I've stated that on more one than occasion that he and I are complete opposites and have completely different interests. But, this is one thing that we both enjoy and we always have a good time.

Anyhow, I'm still on the lookout for some shutters for my bedroom so I wandered into the local Habitat store to look for some and found another treasure, instead.

He and I both stopped in our tracks, when we saw it.

It was solid wood, had vintage glass knobs, the drawers lock (no key, though) and it sits on casters.

We LOVED it.

I checked the price on it, it was $50, I took that tag off asap and practically ran to the register. : )

So, we loaded it up, took it home and started stripping it's paint, asap!

(ok, I am totally apologizing up front for the terrible pics, these were all taken with my phone)

Here it is, loaded up in the back of the truck.

Three layers of paint (white, peach and tan) and a few hours later, the wood finally surfaced.

We decided to not strip the paint on the bottom, partly because we are impatient and partly because I actually liked the chippiness of the paint underneath.

So, I wiped it down good and gave it a fresh coat of antique white.

Jeff finished stripping the top and sanded it down and stained it a deep walnut color.
We put the original glass knobs back on and she was good to go!

Voila!!

Much, much, much better, right?!

I truly love it and I promise to take better pics of it, once my camera is fixed!
