Show us your life-Fave Beauty Products

It's no secret, that I LOVE, LOVE, LOVE cosmetics. (In fact, I'm secretly hoping for a trip to Ulta today! ; ) ) So, when I saw that Kelly was asking people to share their fave beauty products, I was totally in! : )

Here are my CURRENT faves... ; )

I turned 35 this year and I am seriously trying to take better care of my skin and slooowwww down the aging process, as much as possible. So, I started doing some research on AFFORDABLE anti aging products, especially under eye creams. (My under eye area is my biggest nemesis these days!) Well, I read that you can actually use some products as under eye creams too! Oil of Olay regenerist serum was one of them, so, I LOVE that I can use one product for two uses and honestly, I really like it and I think the texture of my skin is sooo much better.

I use it for under my eyes and all over my face and I can seriously tell a difference if I don't use it. This stuff is awesomesauce!

Ok, I was a total Bare Escentuals makeup user for YEARS. I loved it and swore that I would never, ever, ever use anything else. I do still think it's an awesome product but I noticed that skin wasn't looking as smooth and went to Ulta and expressed my concerns to one of the sales girls and she suggested that I try Pur Minerals. Not even gonna lie, I was super hesitant and really wasn't to keen on the switch at first but now, I'm totally hooked. I think my coverage is actually better and I love that it's a pressed powder and seems to go on smoother AND no more break outs! yay!! : )

As much as I love the Pur Minerals foundation, I still prefer my Bare Minerals blush and I use several colors. I'm super duper fair and freckled at that, so I prefer something soft and light. I do believe my fave is the laughter by Bare Minerals. Though, I switch between the Glee and True colors too!

Then, to "soften" my face and I think it also helps, if I go a little heavy handed with my blush. I use my beloved mineral veil by Bare Minerals.

I'm always, always, always on the hunt for a great mascara and the one I currently use is "They're Real" by Benefit. Again, I didn't love it at first but now I do. Though, I do think it's spendy and I'm not sure it works all that much better than some of the cheaper versions that I've tried. ("Falsies" by Maybelline and "Luminous" by Loreal are some of my other faves) But, it is definitely a good mascara.

Until recently, I never wore eye shadow or eye liner but loved the look of it on others and wanted something to make my eyes POP. So, on my birthday, I went to Ulta (SURPRISE!) and visited the Benefit counter and saw this kit and it was an all in one (concealer, eye shadow, eye liner and brushes) and decided to splurge and I do love it! I don't use it everyday but when I want to make my eyes stand out a little more, I do use it. I also love that it's very subtle but you can tell a difference with it. Plus, the powder eye liner is a great one to start with if you never used an eye liner, it's a LOT more forgiving and easier to work with.

While, I like the concealer that comes with the kit above, I still prefer my Mary Kay concealer. I've used this stuff for years and I love that it brightens my under eye area and conceals my dark circles, plus, it doesn't settle into the fine lines under my eyes.

(Another little trick, use mineral veil and just pat it under your eyes after you conceal, and it sets your concealer so it lasts longer)

Lastly, here's my fave lip stuff. I always, always, always line and color in my lips. My fave lip liner is the liner made by Ulta. I usually use a nude or tawny color, it goes on smooth and it's cheap! : )

Then, I finish it off with some gloss. I seriously think I'm addicted to lip gloss. Well, I actually KNOW I am. Here's my current fave. It gives me a bit of color and it's the perfect amount of sticky AND shine! : )

Anyhow, I'd love to hear what your fave products are!

Everything you didn't need to know about me but I'm gonna tell you anyway...

Happy Monday, y'all!

I was not feeling so hot this weekend and Jeff and I were hanging out and started talking about our quirks and I thought hmmm...good blog post?! Nothing like telling all of random things about yourself to the world wide web! ; D

Here goes...

I prefer to use men's razors, I have bought the nice fancy schmancy women's razors but I still prefer the men's!

I have recently been diagnosed with some health issues and I have since changed my diet and have been mostly avoiding sugar and holy cow, can I tell a difference in how I feel!

I just started wearing full fledged eye makeup and WOW, makes a big difference and it's been so fun to play around with it!

A few months ago, I started Olay regenerist and I can tell a HUGE difference in my skin. LOVE this stuff and I dont even buy a seperate eye cream anymore, this works as eye cream too . It's awesomesauce y'all!

I have another blog giveaway coming up with a blogger that I LOVE, LOVE, LOVE! Super excited about that!

My birthday was last week and I turned  35 !!!!  Really?!?! Surely, I am not 35, that just seems like such an adult age and I feel like I should have all my stuff together by now. But alas, I don't! But really? Who does?!

My mom and I were talking the other day and she said she felt like she was too "old" to wear certain things like long hair, leather cuffs and converse, for example. I told her that if I want to wear those things when I am her age, that I will! Is that bad?! Should I care more about being "age appropriate" and who says those things aren't "age appropriate"? Who decides what is "age appropriate"?

I really LOVE this sweater from old navy.

I'm totally enamored by instagram. I'm smmljs on there, follow me 'kay?!

I just registered Maddie for 7th grade, ummm... really?! Maddie is in 7th grade!  Blows my mind! I can remember 7th grade and I have to say she ROCKS it so much better than I did. I was soooo self conscience of who I was and what I looked like and she is just the opposite and I love that about her. I hope she always feels that way about herself!

I got my hair cut and I bought some of that shampoo that you can only buy in the salon ($$$) and I do love it but I totally use the cheap stuff on the days that I have NO intention on leaving the house. Is that weird or do you do that too?

I watched "fat, sick and nearly dead" and now I want to buy a juicer, or do I wanna do smoothies instead? Juicing vs. Blending is the big debate in my head right now.

We moved into the "country" aka 5 min out of town in December and while I do like"country" living, I am not quite fond of the mice that we've had. So, to rid ourselves of that problem, we decided we needed a kitty cat and now we have two. Charlie and Elsie.  Ok, so I love the cats, but I do NOT love litter boxes. Seriously, they stink and are yucky and I am seriously debating on how hard it is to potty train a cat or cat(s) rather.   I so wish I was kidding but I am not.

Oh! Did you know that if you go to Ulta on your birthday, you can get a free brow wax at the Benefit bar? You're welcome.

I don't even know if anyone even reads my blog anymore but in case you do, "HI!!!" and I hope my random musings didn't scare you away!

Have a good one! : )

25 things...

Here we go...

1. This is my first blog post in over a year, I've been doing a lot of blog reading but not a lot of blog posting. My bad.

2. I am HOPING to start a new business venture soon and I could NOT be more excited about it! Details to come soon!!

3. I gained back 10 lbs of what I lost last year so I am currently on the South Beach Diet and am down 5 lbs but it has taken me THREE wks to lose 5 lbs! I want the 8-13 lbs loss they promise! : )  (Can you tell I'm not a patient peep?! ; ) )

4. I still wear colors by Bennetton and EVERY time I wear someone tells me I smell good. I think I've worn it since in high school and I still love it.

5. We *just* got a dvr and omgosh, It's the greatest thing ever!

6. Oh, and a fridge with crushed ice in the door! We like the Jefferson's "movin' on up!" ; )

7. I am totally addicted to crushed ice now and can't drink a drink without it.

8. I switched from my beloved Bare Minerals to Pur Minerals and I love it 10x more! *gasp*!  It's true, I do!

9. I am completely and utterly addicted to Pinterest but have yet to complete or even attempt one thing on my Pinterest boards.

10. I just colored my hair myself for the first time in years because my grays were becoming to many to pluck!

11. My hair is currently also the longest its ever been and you wanna know why? So, I can try all those snazzy hair do's on pinterest. Ummmm yeah....need to get on that.

12. Speaking of hair, I have applied and been accepted into cosmetology school. Soooo stoked and excited about that! Still working out some kinks but YAY!!!

13. I never saw the point in having an expensive pair of sunglasses because, I'd break them or lose them, etc. Well, Im hear to tell ya, I got a pair of Costa Del Mars for Christmas 2010 and ohmygoodness! I'd eat ramen noodles for a month to replace them if I had to because I love them just.that.much!

14. Ramen noodles are NOT on the South Beach diet. Just sayin'

15. I do believe that I wear my denim jacket from Old Navy 3-5x a week. Definitely got my money's worth for realz and I just love, love, love Old Navy for me.

16. I currently am listening to Pandora on my Sara Evan's station.

17. I love Sara Evans. I wanna look like her when I grow up.

18. I really want an iphone but I think the only reason why I really want one is because of the instagram feature and then I would have to change my whole package deal on my cell phone just so I could have instagram. Is it worth it?! Dunno, but it is pretty cool.

19. I wear flannel jammies all.year.long and I live in SC and it gets REEEEAAAALLLLYYYY hot in the summer but yet I still wear them.

20. I think I some sort of texture issues. I typically ONLY wear things that are cotton, no silk, wool, polyester, rayon etc for me. Is that weird?

21.  I could go for a vanilla ice cream cone from McDonald's right now, but I won't. They are my most favorite, though.

22. Oh, and we just got netflix too and I watched the whole season of "The walking dead". Loved it and it totally made my heart race. I love scary movies and tv shows!

23. If you can't tell, I am a whole lotta corny. Well, not literally, you can't have corn on the South Beach diet.

24.  I almost forget how to even do a blog post, I was a little lost at first!

25. I'm great at run on sentences and not putting punctuation where it needs to be, etc. BUT, I can at least spell, I was the spelling bee champ in 6th grade. That's gotta count for something, right?!? ; )

That was fun! Thanks Shaunna for helping me break my blogging slump! : )

Have a great day, y'all!

Mamma Mia!

Oh my, I have a new favorite movie!

If there is one thing that I love about black friday, it's the cheap dvds!

So, when I saw this for $3.99 I had to get it!

I know I'm a little late to see it, but to make up for it, I've watched it twice this past weekend! ; )

I've gotta say this movie was better than I expected and now I *really* want the soundtrack to it!

Such a CUTE and FUN movie!

What about you?

Watch any good movies, lately?

Old friends. . .

When I was a little girl, my dad was in the Army.

So in turn, that means we moved ALOT.

During this time, I went to a total of 11 different schools, lived in 5 different states and even in Germany for a bit.

Needless to say, I'm thankful for those experience NOW but then, not so much.

It was hard to leave old friends and make new ones all over again.

Now that I'm older, I think it's pretty awesome to have friends that live all over the place and recently through the wonder that is facebook, I was able to reconnect with two of them!

It was sooo fun to see them both again.

They are just as sweet and as beautiful as I remembered them in high school, in fact I think even more so.

I calculated the years and it had been 17 years since we'd last seen each other.

Can you say NERVOUS?!?!? Because I was! : )

But, like I'd hoped, as soon as we started talking I was instantly at ease. Made me even wonder why I had initially been anxious. We vowed to not let so much time to escape us again and hope that soon we can plan another visit.

Here is the only pic I have of us, not the greatest of me but could they be any cuter?! : )

How about you, have you been able to reconnect with any long, lost friends lately?

Monday, July 12, 2010

Ummm....Hi!

You may or may not, remember me...

My name is Stephanie and I have a little blog called "The Huntley Home".

Well, "The Huntley Home" has been a wee bit busy lately and life has gotten in the way, as usual and well, the blog writing slacked BIG TIME.

Though, I have missed it and missed you! : )

Our summer has been pretty good so far, lots of swimming, a few trips to the lake, some sleeping in, a lotta fireworks and a broken arm for Miss Maddie.

Yes, my sweet girl had her frist trip to the ER, actually her first visit ever to the hospital (except her birth, of course!) a few weeks ago.

How lucky are we, that in 10 yrs, she's never had an ER visit?!?

Anyhow, she was wearing these...

Stumbled over these...

and ended up with this...

Let me tell, there was a lot of thought and consideration put into the color of that cast too! She's wearing it like a badge of honor and it's now covered with signatures via black sharpie. : )

The coolest part is that it's waterproof and she can swim and bathe with it on!

So, it really hasn't slowed her down much at all.

Hope your summer is off to good start and since I've been a wee bit slack, here's a few summer songs to make up the last couple of Fave Song Fridays that I've missed.

Me minus 40...

Some of you may have already seen this picture but I'm so stinkin' proud of myself that I wanted to share here too.

I never thought I could do this a year ago, and I have and I want to keep going and going...

Here I am, in the goodwill dressing room, mind you! LOL

(I'm telling y'all, goodwill is my new favorite place!)

I don't have a full length mirror at home so, I took full advantage of this one and let me tell ya, it's not an easy take to take a self body shot!

Hence, the weird angle. LOL

I still have a ways to go but I am getting there and I've never felt better both physically and emotionally.  : )

Thanks for sharing in this journey with me! <3

41!!

41 is the number of pounds that I have lost since 11/07/09!!!

I am so proud of myself and not just because of the weight loss but because I am doing things that I didn't think I could.

Yesterday, I walked and jogged (just a little bit of jogging LOL) 2 miles!!!

Y'all that is HUGE for me! I haven't done any structured exercise in such a very, very long time.

I wanted to die afterwards LOL, but after I got my wits together, I was so very proud of myself.

It does help that I have a friend that goes with me and pushes me way harder than I would push myself and trust me when I say that I walked, I'm not talking about some leisurely stroll. I'm walking like I'm on a mission.

I guess you could say I am on a mission. : )

I still have more weight to lose but I'm getting there and getting more and more comfortable in my skin more and more everday and that is a WONDERFUL feeling!

Anyhow, I don't have any recent body shots but I do have this pic of me from Friday and I can tell a big difference in my face.

Maybe when this is all said and done, I'll be brave enough to post before and after pics.

Hope y'all have a good week!  : )

Alive and well!

Goodness, who's a COMPLETE BLOG SLACKER lately? Ummm....ME!!

I'm back and hopefully back to regular posting again!

Anyhow, my booth is open.

I've enjoyed it thus, far.

Here's just a few pics I snapped of it with my phone the other day.

Maddie girl, helping me move in.

My recent projects. . .

It's all coming together...slowly.

But, at least it's coming together, right?  ; )
I haven't participated in a blog party in a while, so I'm linking my whole booth of DIY projects to Kimba's DIY day!

The 411. . .

Hey, y'all! : )

Just wanted to touch base with the few of you, that read my blog.

Firstly, as of today I have lost 28.6 lbs!! YAY me!!

I still have more I want to lose, but seriously, I already feel like a new person.

I've gone down 2 dress sizes and some of my shoes have even gotten too big!

How weird is that?!

I feel more focused, more patient, more determined and just more alive than I've felt in a long, long time.

I'm not just going through the motions, anymore.

Don't get me wrong, I still have bad days but I recover from them so much more quickly than before.

Life is good. : )

My booth at the antique/collectible store opens next Thursday and I'm still excited but I am getting more nervous by the day. I don't know why, I just hope people like my stuff, I guess! : )

I'm doing this more as a hobby than anything, it's just something I truly enjoy.

It's actually stress relieving to me.
It's like I don't have a care in the world, when I am working on something.

I guess you could call it, "creative therapy"? : )

We are starting off small and just have random things from around our home and few things I've made or refinished, thus far.

I do have a few more projects waiting in the wings, though.

Currently, I am redoing an end table and have the paint in my hair today to prove it! LOL

I really want to make my booth something fun and something that people will remember (in a good way, of course).

I did move some stuff in last weekend and met my "neighboring" booths, they are both women and both of them are new at this as well, and seem to have the same mix of emotions that I do.

It's been fun to see the whole store coming together.

One of the old vendors gave me some information about a few of the upcoming auctions and I've never been to one so, I am excited about the prospect of that.

Have you ever been to auction? If so, how did you like it?
Any advice for an auction newbie?

I'm really excited to see what this adventure holds for us, and am so glad we decided to take this chance.

If you made it this far, bless you.

We've been some busy bees and thank you for taking the time to keep up with us and by the looks of my neglected Google reader, y'all have been busy too!

Hope you have a wonderful Wednesday!
