Fave song Friday. . .

I can totally relate to the lyrics of this song.

It totally hits home here and it's so uplifting at the same time.

Hope you like it too and have a WONDERFUL weekend!

Maddie's got a brand new 'do. . .

My sweet girl went and got a big girl haircut.

One that requires mousse and fixin' everyday!

But, isn't she so cute?!

And, so grown up? :(

Faith. . .

I got this on Facebook, of all places, but I loved the message and wanted to share it with you, as well.

I know a lot of folks are going through some tough times and I thought this was a neat message that we could all benefit from. :) It's about Faith.

... that faith is exactly what it takes to get through uncertainty.

Faith is not necessary when you know how things are going to work out, - that's knowledge. It's in the time of unknowing that having faith is what sees you through to the other side. Faith is what gives you strength. Faith is that light in your heart that keeps on shining even when it's all darkness outside. Now is the time to keep that faith alive!

Anyhow, I thought it was short and sweet and to the point.

Never hurts to have a reminder, does it?

Price My $pace Party. . .

The Nester is having a price my space party!

As usual, I am late to the party but I still wanted to play along!

Here is my Living Room. It's nothing fancy but it's home to us.

Unfortunately, we rent so we are unable to paint the walls, so just imagine some luscious color on the walls!

Believe you me, if we buy this house, painting the walls is gonna be the first thing that happens! :)

Here is what you see when you face, into my living room.

This is my couch.
I think I paid about $1200 for it a few yrs ago and the green pillows are some I got from Big Lots. They were part of the Jennifer Farrell collection and I think I paid about $15 a piece for them.

This is our only window in the room.

The drapes and rod are part of the Better Homes and Gardens collection from Walmart. I paid about $30 total for the drapes and another $20 for the rod.
The "It's a Wonderful Life" sign was bought from a seller on Ebay and I think I paid about $30 for it.
The floral arrangement was free and done by Jeff's grandmother.
Ok, I take that back, it did cost me a little bit of hard labor but it was well worth it. Now, I just need to find the perfect place for it.
The clock and apothecary jar were gifts, and I think I paid about $40 for the lamp from Lowe's.

Here is the matching chair to my couch. I think we paid about $700 for the chair and ottoman. This is Jeff's fave spot. It's directly in front of the tv, so we all clamor for it! The coffee table came from Value City Furniture and I am not sure but I don't think we paid more than $125 or so, for it. It's about 10 yrs old but it's still holding it's own. I am going to take the trim off of it to make it less "country" looking.
The barn stars above the chair came from Kirkland's and were about $20 for the set of 3. I love Kirkland's!

This is to the left of my front door and becomes the "catch all" for keys, mail, etc.

I love, love, love the distressed wood table. It was given to us and we have several pieces that match it. I seriously love these pieces and can't wait to have creamy colored walls for it pop against, so you can see just how gorgeous it is!
The mirror came from Wal-mart and I paid $25 for it. The little table lamp was $15 from Kirkland's. The frames are from World Market and I think I paid $20 for both of them. The Pottery Barn pocketwatch clock was an Ebay find for about $10 and the mosiac vase from Pier One was a gift. I also, made the white framed monogram hanging by the door. Cost me a whole $1 to make! :) The key hook is just something I found at Big Lots for $3 or so.

Here, is our fireplace and TV armoire.
As you can see, our mantle is a work in progress. The clock above the fireplace was free, as I won it, in a Dirty Santa game. The votiveholder on the mantle came from TJ Maxx for $7.00. The hanging star was a gift and the candlesticks (with no candles, mind you) are some I recently painted and I got them from Kirkland's for about $15.00. The fireplace screen came from Target and I got it for about $25. The little red H was an Ebay find for about $3.

The armoire was also free, it was given to us by Jeff's grandmother and it's about to get painted very soon! I am thinking an antique white?! Most of the stuff on the top of it were gifts but I did get the tall grass from Target for about $10.

Lastly, here is our corner unit that matches our console table. Once again, I love this piece. The candleholder on top was $4.99 from Linens and Things. I was excited about that one! The other accessories have just been finds from the years. I honestly don't think I have a total of $25 worth of stuff on that piece. Lots of clearance deals!

Thanks for checking out my living room! Can't wait to see your spaces! :)

My Pottery Barn "knockoffs"

Remember these?

I loved them, but they were way out of my budget, as they ranged anywhere from $29-$49 per candlestick.

Umm...OUCH!

So, I decided to try and make something similar.

Here is my version and it only cost me a total of $20 for the whole kit and caboodle.

Not too shabby, eh?

This was super easy, I just found some reasonably priced candlesticks, (I used faux wood ones) found some spray paint in colors that I liked and then just spray painted until my hearts content. Easy Peasy!

I am really pleased with the results and really pleased with the price.

So, here is my contribution to frugal decorating. I love when I get them PB look without the PB price! :)
